Kim Wilkinson is a mother and Grief Recovery Specialist who lost her 22-year-old son, Tristan, to a drug overdose in November 2019. Through that loss, Kim discovered healing, recovery and transformation, and now works with others facing mental health challenges, PTSD, addiction and trauma as they move from suffering to empowerment.
In this conversation with Cindy Thompson, Kim shares how Tristan's passing became, in an unexpected way, the catalyst for finding her own purpose. With a passion for learning, she opens up about the personal and family mental health challenges her journey through grief has surfaced, and how compassion, non-judgement and patience now shape the way she works with her clients.
Kim has discovered firsthand how specific tools and techniques can bring healing and recovery, as well as abundance and success, into every area of life. She shares her thoughts on what we, as a community, can do today to make a difference for families living with grief, addiction and loss, and why she believes it was Tristan's purpose to help her find her own.
This episode is dedicated to Tristan, and to every parent grieving the loss of a child to drug overdose. It is a conversation about resilience in its most honest form: not the absence of pain, but the willingness to keep moving through it, and to help others do the same.
